POSTPONED : Mentor Training Guidance for Mentoring Coordinators

27 March 2020 at Brunswick House, 51 Wilson Street, Glasgow G1 1UZ

POSTPONED : Mentor Training Guidance for Mentoring Coordinators

**It is with regret that SMN has decided to postpone this scheduled Training Guidance for Mentoring Coordinators (TGMC) training course.

We will be in touch with a re-scheduled date as soon as we can.

We hope that you understand and that we have not caused any undue inconvenience. **

The aim of this one day 'Mentor Training Guidance for Coordinators' course is to give organisations running mentoring programmes the skills and materials they will need to train their mentors.  The course will take place in Glasgow on Friday 27th of March 2019.

The course will enable mentoring coordinators to:

  • Explain what good mentoring training should include
  • Understand key learning theories and practices and how these contribute to the delivery of quality training
  • Design a mentor training programme using a session plan template
  • Have access to and employ a range of mentor training tools, activities and resources
  • Review and evaluate a training programme for mentors

Course participants will be provided with a mentor training pack. This mentor training pack is presented in two sections.  Section one is for trainers and provides information, guidance and the materials required to deliver the mentor training course.  Section two is for participants and provides the documents and handouts that are given to prospective mentors attending the mentor training course.

The Coordinator can use and adapt the pack to suit the needs of prospective mentors, the needs of the organisation and to suit their own personal style as a trainer. The aim should be for coordinators to make the course their own. The course programme has been divided into four parts for flexibility of delivery. It can be run as a two-day course, as two one-day courses, or four-half day courses. The format chosen for delivery will depend on a number of factors including availability of mentors or of staff to deliver the training or venue availability.  The complete Mentor Training pack will be available electronically so coordinators will have the course materials electronically for printing and, where appropriate, insert information that is specific to the coordinator's organisation.

The cost of one participant place is £350.00 and this fee covers the days training; skilled, experienced, professional trainers; a printed training pack, and electronic access to the training pack.

Coordinators who have already undertaken our Professional Certficate in Coordinating Mentoring Programmes training course can attend this course for the discounted rate of £250.00

Coordinators who attend the Training guidance for Mentoring Coordinators (TGMC) course, and use the materials to train their mentors will now be able to access our new Mentor Training Assessment service.

The SMN Mentor Training Assessment has been developed to allow you to recognise your mentors learning. You can register your mentors with SMN and we will give them access to our online multiple choice Mentor Training Assessment.

The Assessment has been designed to test the knowledge and understanding covered in the 2 Day Mentor training course outlined in the TGMC packs. The assessment is in the form of multiple choice questions and as a coordinator you can login and monitor your mentor’s progress.

This service provides you with a cost effective way of measuring and acknowledging your mentor’s training. Mentors who pass the test will be issued with a certificate recognising their learning.

If you would like to learn more about this service please email sarah@scottishmentoringnetwork.co.uk
